We are held to a higher standard.

“We are held to a higher standard...”

Not just words – but words to live by. These simple words are how I live my life and the reason I am interested in becoming your Milwaukee County Sheriff.

My story is uniquely Milwaukee. I was born and raised in the City of Milwaukee and educated in Milwaukee Public Schools, graduating from Rufus King High School. I served the citizens of the City of Milwaukee with pride and distinction for 25 years with the Milwaukee Police Department, and nearly gave my life when I was shot by an assailant. I continued serving in this noble profession, becoming a commanding officer, while raising a family and earning a degree from Marquette University. I had the privilege of leading more than 200 dedicated men and women, and developing partnerships with elected officials, community groups, and residents to address drugs, gangs, and gun crimes affecting our community.

I then transitioned to an exciting opportunity to serve as the Supervisor of Security for MLB Commissioner Bud Selig. I have been a part of the security and investigative team at Major League Baseball for the past 15 years, and can count numerous accomplishments I am extremely proud of, including successfully overseeing security at the 2009 All-Star Game in St. Louis, where President Barack Obama threw out the ceremonial first pitch

It is truly an honor to serve, and I’ve been afforded the opportunity to work with some of the leading law enforcement and public safety practitioners from across the country and around the world.

Now, it would be a high honor to serve as your sheriff to help address issues facing our community. We need to confront the problems plaguing our jail. We need to do more to address problems on our highways, including wrong-way drivers injuring and maiming innocents. We need to work together, collaboratively, to ensure we and our community partners are making Milwaukee County safe. I will be a full-time sheriff, and I will treat the office and the citizens we serve with dignity and respect.

I sincerely look forward to hearing from you, and sharing my vision for the future of the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

Yes, I have found it true in life, in law enforcement, and in baseball that: “We are held to a higher standard—and we ought to be proud!”

I thank you and ask for your support.
